"7:30 to 8:00 a.m. The transportation passes by the different hotels to begin our journey to one of the deepest canyons in the world. We take the Yura road, bordering the Chachani snow-capped mountain, heading towards Pampa Cañahuas (which is part of the Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve), home to the beautiful South American camelids, the vicuñas. In the Tocra wetlands, we will be able to observe a variety of migratory birds, including flamingos. We will pass by the crater of an extinct volcano, Chucura; then, we will stop at the volcano viewpoint, which is also the highest point of the road (4,910 meters above sea level), from where we will admire a large part of the western mountain range.
13:30 to 14:00 Approximately, arrival in Chivay.
Lunch (at the passenger's expense)
Check-in at the hotel.
In the afternoon, we will enjoy the hot springs at La Calera, whose thermo-medicinal waters range between 35º and 38º Celsius in the pools. (If staying at Colca Lodge, Refugio, Casitas del Colca, or Aranwa, guests will have the afternoon to enjoy their hotels and dinner will be at their respective hotels.
19:00 Optional: Dinner accompanied by a folkloric show. (If your hotel is located in Chivay, but if it is in Yanque, additional transfers are required.
Breakfast.
06:30 "We will head to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, a strategic observation point of the canyon and the spectacular flight of the condor. On the way back, we will stop in the towns of Maca and Yanque, which have beautiful colonial churches, as well as the viewpoints of Antahuilque, Huayrapunko, and Peña Blanca, from where we can appreciate the beautiful Colca landscape with its impressive terracing.
Lunch.
13:00 Return to the city of Arequipa.
14:30 We will make a stop at Patahuasi to stretch our legs.
16:30 to 17:00 Arrival in the city of Arequipa.
NOTE: It is recommended to bring little luggage, unless your trip ends in the city of Puno. In that case, you should bring everything. Comfortable clothing is required for the 2 days, warm clothing for the night, swimwear if you wish to enter the pools, and importantly, sunscreen.
